Dear Transitions Delaware Family,
Time to Bloom πΈπ³οΈββ§οΈ
May is for Amayzing β and that is exactly what you are.
Spring has a way of reminding us that growth is not always loud. Sometimes it is quiet. Sometimes it happens underground, in the dark, where no one can see it β and then one day, almost without warning, something beautiful pushes through the surface and reaches toward the light. π³οΈββ§οΈ
That is you. That is your story.
For so many in the LGBTQ+ community, the journey to becoming your fullest, most authentic self can feel like a long winter. The weight of hiding, of wondering, of navigating a world that does not always make space for who you truly are β that is real, and it is heavy. But so is the beauty of what happens when you finally begin to bloom. πΈπ³οΈββ§οΈ
May is a month of transformation. The world around us is bursting with color, with warmth, with the undeniable energy of things coming alive. And we want you to know β that energy belongs to you too. Your identity is not a problem to be solved. It is a gift waiting to be fully unwrapped. Your story is not something to be ashamed of. It is something to be celebrated, honored, and held with the greatest care. π³οΈββ§οΈπ
At Transitions Delaware we are here for every single step of that journey. Whether you are just beginning to explore who you are, navigating the complexities of transition, processing the weight of your experiences, or simply needing a safe and affirming space to breathe β we are here. Our team of dedicated, compassionate practitioners shows up for you with open hearts, affirming care, and zero judgment. π³οΈββ§οΈπ
You do not have to bloom alone.
This May β and every month β Transitions Delaware is walking right alongside you. Because you deserve to bloom fully, beautifully, and exactly as you are. πΈπ³οΈββ§οΈπ
May is for Amayzing β and friends, that has always been you. πβ¨π³οΈββ§οΈ

Do you like movies??
The Rehoboth Beach Film Society, in partnership with CAMP Rehoboth, is proud to, once again, bring the Pride Film Festival to Sussex County. This festival serves to celebrate, inform, and entertain audiences through LGBTQ+ cinema.
This yearβs line-up of movies will transport you from India to Iran, Paris to Maspalomas, and Los Angeles to rural America, bringing to our screen queer stories from around the world. These movies will make you laugh and cry; they will make you reminisce and reflect. They spotlight conversations relevant to today, while also tackling historical events experienced within the queer community. The festival includes dramas, documentaries, campy comedies, and includes works from some of Hollywoodβs biggest queer filmmakers and creatives, like Gregg Araki and the Wachowskis.

"JOY Snapshot"
PBS Kids debuted its first autistic lead character. The show just won them an Emmy for 'Outstanding Public Service Initiative'
Beloved PBS characters like Clifford the Big Red Dog and Arthur the Aardvark recently welcomed a new friend on their network: Carl the Collector. The fuzzy raccoon is the first autistic lead character in a PBS childrenβs series β and heβs voiced by Kai Barham, a 10-year-old autistic actor.
βIt makes me happy that I am finally being represented in a show,β Barham told The New York Times. βI hope that people who are not on the spectrum will learn that autism is not like the stereotypes.β
The show, which is geared towards ages 4 to 8, is staffed by voice actors, writers, and directors who are autistic or have autistic family members. That first-hand experience guides the heart of the show, which tackles the idea that everyone on the spectrum behaves the same way.
βSo much of the strategies and techniques that are used to support and help autistic individuals are really just extensions of good practice,β said Stephen Shore, an autistic professor of special education at Adelphi University who works as an advisor for the show.
He said that the show was created with autistic and nonautistic viewers in mind.
βI hope they learn more about each other, and that people from all parts of humanity, neurodivergent, neurotypical, neuro-some-other-category-that-we-havenβt-thought-of-yet, understand that weβre more similar than weβre different.β
On March 1, the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences presented βCarl the Collectorβ with the Emmy Award for βOutstanding Public Service Initiativeβ at the 4th Annual Childrenβs & Family Emmy Awards in New York.
The show won the national award for its βexcellence in public service efforts to raise awareness and/or marshal support for one or more worthy community causes.β
ββCarl the Collectorβ spotlights neurodiverse characters while exploring and celebrating the entire spectrum of humanity,β OHora said. βThe world of Fuzzytown is designed to be a place where all viewers will see themselves or someone they know in it. We hope Carl and his friends will encourage empathy and understanding, and ultimately show that everyone benefits when we recognize and embrace our differences.β
