We envision a future where quality mental health care is a fundamental right. Every LGBTQ+ person should feel seen, heard, and supported in their journey toward wellbeing. Mental health support should actively contribute to dismantling stigma and fostering societal acceptance.
February arrives with its familiar imagery—red hearts, chocolate boxes, romantic gestures. But what if we expanded our understanding of love beyond the commercial holiday and into something more transformative? What if love became less about a single day and more about the daily practice of showing up for ourselves, our communities, and each other?
Love in action is the bridge between good intentions and meaningful change. It's the difference between saying "I support you" and actually learning someone's pronouns and using them consistently. It's the space between thinking "that's wrong" when witnessing discrimination and actually speaking up, even when your voice shakes.
For those in therapy, love in action might look like honoring your commitments to yourself—attending sessions even when it feels hard, practicing the skills you're learning, or setting boundaries that protect your peace. It's choosing self-compassion over self-criticism when you stumble. It's recognizing that investing in your mental health isn't selfish; it's one of the most loving things you can do, both for yourself and for those who care about you.
For allies, love in action is where the real work begins. It's using your privilege to amplify marginalized voices, intervening when you witness harm, and showing up consistently—even when fatigued or fearful. Battling hateful energy is exhausting.
Love in action requires courage. It asks us to be vulnerable, to risk getting it wrong, to apologize when we do, and to keep trying anyway. It demands that we look honestly at the ways we might be complicit in systems that harm others. It challenges us to do better, not because we expect recognition, but because it's right.
This February, consider how you might practice love in action. Maybe it's finally having that difficult conversation you've been avoiding. Maybe it's reaching out to support someone who's struggling. Maybe it's standing up in a moment when silence would be easier. Maybe it's simply being kinder to yourself as you navigate your own journey.
The beauty of love in action is that it ripples outward. When you show up authentically, when you advocate courageously, when you practice self-compassion consistently, you give others permission to do the same. You become the one—BE_The_1—who creates positive change simply by choosing love over fear, action over apathy, and connection over comfort.
This month, let's celebrate love not just as a feeling, but as a verb—something we do, practice, and embody every single day.
Read the poem, The Guest House by Rumi. Draw, color, or paint a Guest House on a piece of paper, inviting six feelings to enter and stay. Depict words or objects in each room to care for each of the feelings, such as a tissue box in the room for Sadness, a punching bag in the room for Anger, or a cross in the room for Fear.

"Swag With A Purpose"
We are always adding new items to our Swag With A Purpose website where 100% of profits go directly back to TransitionsDE clients in the form of bus passes and art supplies. These aren't just nice extras—they're essential resources that remove barriers to care and foster healing through creativity.
Bus passes mean clients can get to therapy appointments, support groups, and community resources without transportation being a barrier. Art supplies provide therapeutic outlets for expression, skill-building, and the kind of creative healing that words sometimes can't reach.
Pick one up to continue your art therapy journey between sessions!

StubHub said that it “received a surge in interest” for Saturday’s game between the Canadiens and Bruins, “six times higher than average.” This comes on the heels of the success of the HBO Max show “Heated Rivalry,” which “primarily focuses on a romance between two male hockey players who play for rival Montreal- and Boston-based teams.” StubHub said that the surge is 35% “higher than in a typical matchup between the two teams.” Also, 82% of those who have purchased tickets “are first-time buyers, three times more than usual.” On Friday, the Bruins’ social media team “referenced the show” in a post previewing the matchup. The growing interest “hasn’t been limited to Canadiens and Bruins games,” as NHL single-game ticket sales on StubHub “are up” 82% compared to last season

Self-Care Spotlight:
The Art of Small Comforts
Self-care doesn't always mean bubble baths and spa days (though those are wonderful too). Sometimes it's wrapping yourself in a cozy blanket after a hard day. Sometimes it's saying "no" to plans when your energy tank is empty. Sometimes it's letting yourself rest without guilt.
February—with its gray skies and lingering winter—is the perfect time to practice micro-moments of care. A five-minute gratitude meditation. A warm cup of tea enjoyed without scrolling. Ten minutes of gentle stretching. Reading one chapter before bed instead of doom-scrolling.
The most sustainable self-care practices are the ones you can actually maintain. They're not Instagram-worthy or impressive—they're simply yours, and they're enough.
Your February Self-Care Challenge:
Identify one tiny comfort that makes you feel grounded and practice it daily for two weeks. Notice what shifts when you consistently show up for yourself in small, doable ways.
Remember: You don't need permission to rest. You don't need to earn comfort. You deserve care simply because you exist.

Transitions DE Newsletter Dear Transitions Delaware Family, March: Between Seasons, Beyond Binaries March can feel like the longest month—stuck between winter's cold and spring's promise. The days are brighter, but the air is still biting. We're tired of the gray, ready for warmth, waiting for the world to bloom again. But we're in this together, and that makes all the difference. Spring is coming. Warmth is coming. Brighter days are ahead. And while we wait for the season to shift, let's...
Transitions DE Newsletter 2026 Dear Transitions Delaware Family, January arrives like a blank page—crisp, clean, and full of possibility. As we step into 2026, we carry with us something invaluable: the strength we discovered throughout the challenges of 2025. Last year tested us in ways we didn't anticipate. It asked us to dig deeper, stand firmer, and find resilience we didn't know we had. And here we are—not unchanged, but stronger. That strength doesn't disappear when the calendar turns....
